Ann Curry
Ann Curry is an American photographer and journalist who has worked as a journalist for more than 45 years focusing on the suffering of people in the aftermath of natural catastrophes and war zones. Curry covered the conflicts in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Ann Curry, (born November 19 1956 Agana American journalist and TV anchor and news reporter. She was best known for her work as a correspondent for the Today show, a news morning program that was broadcast through the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry was known especially for her work in reporting about natural disasters as well as war torn countries. Curry's maternal grandmother is Japanese as is her father, who was an US Navy Sargent. Curry's parents were married in Japan in Japan, the country where her father was stationed following World War II. Her father served in the military and her family moved around a lot. Curry finished highschool in Ashland Oregon. Following her graduation from the University of Oregon, Curry obtained a bachelor's degree in journalism degree in the year 1978. Her exposure to different cultures as well as her experiences throughout her childhood may have influenced her empathy method of communication regarding global issues. Ashland was her final high school. Her career in broadcasting began with an intern at KTVL Channel 10 Medford in Oregon. When she was 22, she was the first journalist female for the station. Later, she became an anchor/reporter for KGW at Portland Oregon. When she moved to Los Angeles, she became a reporter on KCBS TV just four years after moving to the city. In her time with the channel she received the award of two Emmy Awards.
